Smart Mobility

Field Strategy

The needs and demands of passengers will be determined with dynamic and intelligent systems that will allow the most efficient use of existing resources. More comfortable, safe and environmentally friendly transportation services will continue to be provided.

Istanbul is a strong city in the field of Mobility. This is thanks to the central and local governments' emphasis on transportation investments, their openness to innovation, the application of many smart transportation systems and the use of a wide variety of transportation modes. In addition to these, there are many master plan studies and competent human resources dealing with transportation.

Due to a rapidly increasing population and migration, the demand for transportation has been increasing at a tremendous pace in recent years. However, Istanbul is still lacking adequate infrastructure due to its transportation investments accelerating only after the 2000s, and the difficult expropriation processes for transportation infrastructures in city planning. The fact that there are many different types of transportation in the city gives us room for progress in the integrated planning and operation of these types.

While implementing the strategies, it is important to benefit from the newly developed information and communication technologies in the field of smart mobility in order to improve the coordination and public transportation through improving transportation, supporting sustainable transportation modes and reducing traffic congestion for the purpose of comfortable, safe, environment-friendly, people-oriented and integrated transportation.
