Tsunami Action Plan Implementation Project (Completed)
To realize the implementation projects of the action plans developed after the Tsunami Hazard and Risk Analysis (2018) and Tsunami Action Plans (2019) studies completed in cooperation with IMM Earthquake and Soil Survey Directorate -ODTG and to reduce possible tsunami damages and with the studies carried out to give the evacuation routes a legal identity (UKOME) and to realize the implementation projects. Firstly Buyukcekmece district was selected as a pilot province, the studies for the placement of guiding evacuation signs and information boards for raising awareness have been completed, and the UKOME process has been completed for the other 16 districts bordering the Marmara Sea, and continuing the process for the applications to be made in the field
- Raising public awareness of the tsunami hazard
- Increasing evacuation capacity in case of disaster

Earthquake Early Warning/Emergency Response Integration (Completed)
Within the scope of the protocol signed in 2020 with the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (KRDAE), the earthquake damage prediction studies completed in 2019 are to be updated, taking into account the current building inventory and population information. Additionally, earthquake damage prediction analyses related to layers such as historical/cultural structures and industrial facilities will be conducted. The integration of devices in the İGDAŞ seismic network into the earthquake early warning and emergency intervention system will be explored. An integrated web interface for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) system infrastructure will be created for monitoring up-to-date earthquake information
- Prevention/minimisation of potential losses due to earthquake
- Provision of centralised information flow in disaster management
- Ensuring the follow-up of the current building/structure inventory in the city

Fiber Optic Distributed Acoustic Sensing System-Based Early Warning and Monitoring System (FOTDES)
Developing earthquake early warning technology using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology to quickly detect potentially severe earthquakes in the sea floor and on land, involving fiber optic (F/O) cables extending around Istanbul (and its surroundings). This aims to save time for taking preventive measures for critical infrastructure and transportation systems
- Developing earthquake early warning technology with FOTDES is expected to contribute to timely gas shutdown in the İGDAŞ gas distribution network during the anticipated major Marmara earthquake. This proactive approach includes taking measures for critical infrastructure and transportation systems, helping prevent secondary disasters
- Utilizing early warning signals in areas such as metro systems, trains, factories, and aircraft management to prevent loss of life and property damage
