Field Strategy

There will be greater equality of opportunity than ever before in access to quality and modern educational opportunities and in the participation of all Istanbulites in urban life.

Istanbul's strengths include the widespread use of smart devices, the availability of an IBB Wi-Fi service with 1.5 million registered members, 12 years of compulsory education, government policies encouraging the acceptance of asylum-seeking migrants, and investment in knowledge-intensive sectors/services that encourage a skilled workforce in the city.

On the other hand, greater gender equality in education and business life, increasing foreign language skills in the service sector, becoming a preferred city for foreign students, and increasing the rate of university graduates in parallel with the young population constitute Istanbul's potential development areas in the field of Human.

When formulating strategies, it is important to take advantage of the young population's openness to new technology and additional usage features such as mobile payments on smart devices. The large number of migrants (asylum-seekers), the persistence of economic challenges caused by COVID-19 on a national and international scale, the level differences in digital literacy within the society, the low rate of university graduates, and the inability to take necessary and sufficient steps to improve education, educator and student qualifications are threats.
